Getting around firewalls is actually not that hard.
- Set up a machine to respond to SSH over a commonly used port (like 443, the port for https)
- (How do you do that? Just add another Port line to the sshd_config file - sshd will listen to more than 1 port!)
Download MacProxy. Set up a Proxy using SSH. Note: the "Check" button does not work in this situation, everything is fine.
Use the MacProxy menubar to enable the proxy
Try your previously restricted activity. (sshing into a remote server for example). It should work, and the Sent/Received stats in the MacProxy menu bar should go wild
